The Aesir and Vanir

Frigg and Freya. Giermo meets these two goddess in his own version of purgatory. Giermo yearns for the German side of his genetic make up much that fate has guided his spirit there.
I’ve been trying to watch Wagner operas for the setting ideas for Frigg’s hall, Fensalir.

My interpretation is that the Aenir were cosmic gods epitomized war and power and the Vanir were Earth gods who concentrated on fertility and domestic affairs. War and Peaceniks.

Frigg (sometimes anglicized as Frigga) is a major goddess in Norse paganism, a subset of Germanic paganism. She is said to be the wife of Odin, and is the “foremost among the goddesses” and the queen of Asgard.[1] Frigg appears primarily in Norse mythological stories as a wife and a mother. She is also described as having the power of prophecy yet she does not reveal what she knows.[2] Frigg is described as the only one other than Odin who is permitted to sit on his high seat Hlidskjalf and look out over the universe. The English term Friday derives from the Anglo-Saxon name for Frigg, Frigga.[3]

Mikka shares a bit of Frigg’s power of prophecy for that she has repeatedly seen her own death, but chooses not to reveal what she knows This is no accident for Mikka is Frigg’s favorite mortal.

Connection between Frigg and Freyja
Frigg is the highest goddess of the Æsir, while Freyja is the highest goddess of the Vanir. Many arguments have been made both for and against the idea that Frigg and Freyja are really the same goddess, avatars of one another.[19] Some arguments are based on linguistic analysis, others on the fact that Freyja wasn’t known in southern Germany, only in the north, and in some places the two goddesses were considered to be the same, while in others they were considered to be different.[20] There are clearly many similarities between the two: both had flying cloaks of falcon feathers and engaged in shape-shifting, Frigg was married to Odin while Freyja was married to Óðr, both had special necklaces, both had a personification of the Earth as a parent, both were called upon for assistance in childbirth, etc.
There is also an argument that Frigg and Freyja are part of a triad of goddesses (together with a third goddess such as Hnoss or Iðunn) associated with the different ages of womankind.[21][unreliable source?] The areas of influence of Frigg and Freyja don’t quite match up with the areas of influence often seen in other goddess triads. This may mean that the argument isn’t a good one, or it may show something interesting about northern European culture as compared to Celtic and southern European culture.
Finally, there is an argument is that Frigg and Freyja are similar goddesses from different pantheons who were first conflated into each other and then later seen as separate goddesses again (see also Frige). This is consistent with the theological treatment of some Greek, Roman, and Egyptian deities in the late classical period.

Giermo’s Journey: Aphrodite and Echidna’s Children

Aphrodite ( who I modeled after Sophia Loren) tells the Giermo the story of her son Aeneas’ who founded Italy after the fall of Troy. This a supporting story to the “Greeks aren’t blonde therefore she isn’t” lecture she gives him. “Obviously Heroditus had a thing for Gaulic migrants.

Freya has a habit of slinking into neighboring pantheons and wreaking havoc. Hello, the AEsir-Vanir war! The Meditteranean is where people of all races meet, so of course there is going to be different interpretations of traditional stories like my own. I am a Greek manifestation but much that is Greek is Persian and how many Persians are blonde? Right, so the goddess is you seek is Freya! I’m afraid you’ll see her soon enough in Val Halla or Hella, depending on how well you lived your life!

Giermo is then devoured by the Chimera.

Giermo’s Journey:Portugal Edge of the Ancient World

Giermo lives in Portugal, so when he is forced out on his journey in the last issue of In Between Days he passes what ancient mariners believed to be the end of the world. Today that area is Cape St. Vincent.

ape St. Vincent (Portuguese: Cabo de São Vicente, Portuguese pronunciation: [ˈkabu dɨ sɐ̃ũ viˈsẽtɨ]), next to the Sagres Point, on the so-called Costa Vicentina (Vincentine Coast), is a headland in the municipality of Sagres, in the Algarve, southern Portugal.

Cape St. Vincent was already sacred ground in Neolithic times, as standing menhirs in the neighborhood attest. The ancient Greeks called it Ophiussa (Land of Serpents), inhabited by the Oestriminis and dedicated here a temple to Heracles. The Romans called it Promontorium Sacrum (or Holy Promontory). They considered it a magical place where the sunset was much larger than anywhere else. They believed the sun sank here hissing into the ocean, marking the edge of their world.:
